What do you know about PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. It is a critical part of students' social and educational experience at Prairie Trail. Throughout the school, students and staff are expected to demonstrate our three expectations: Be respectful, be responsible, and be safe.
As teachers, we do our best to recognize students when they are following these expectations with descriptive feedback that acknowledges what they're doing right, kind words, and/or a positive gesture such as a thumbs-up, fist bump, or high-five (not tickets, punch cards, or trinkets that clutter your house or their desk and lockers). Every week, we have at least one class period when students reflect on their behavior and collaboratively plan ways to address any problems or challenges that have arisen.
